In videos circulating on social networks, it is possible to identify supporters wearing club shirts at post 4 on Copacabana beach, a stone’s throw from Santa Clara and Figueiredo Magalhães streets.
According to Hilmar Faulhaber, commander of the Battalion specialized in maintaining order in the stadiums (BEPE), the fight did not involve organized supporters, it was small groups who gathered at the scene, which sowed the confusion.
Officers from the 19th Military Police Battalion patrolling the waterfront dispersed the groups with pepper spray and brought the situation under control.
According to the Prime Minister’s press office, “on the afternoon of this Wednesday (24/08), military police officers from the 19th BPM (Copacabana) were patrolling along the coast of Copacabana when they were called to verify possible incidents near a kiosk on Avenida Atlântica, between Rua Figueiredo Magalhães and Rua Santa Clara.According to the first information, there was a disagreement between the fans.
