A major health insurance company in Massachusetts and New Hampshire is warning its members of a cybersecurity ransomware incident affecting systems used to serve customers, accounts, brokers and vendors, the company announced Wednesday. Point32Health, the parent company of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Tufts Health Plan, said it identified the attack on Monday and proactively took certain systems offline to contain the threat. “After detecting the unauthorized party, and out of an abundance of caution, we proactively took certain systems offline to contain the threat,” the company said in a statement. Point32Health said the issue affects members covered by the commercial plans of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and New Hampshire Medicare Plans. It does not impact Tufts Health Plan products, Point32Health said. “Our top priority is to ensure our members continue to have access to care,” Point32Health said in a statement. “While we are working diligently to restore affected systems as quickly and safely as possible, our team is working around the clock to provide workarounds for members to receive the services they need.” are working with third-party cybersecurity experts to conduct a thorough investigation.
