As evidenced by the successful launch in British Columbia in August 2022, physical veterinary clinics that want to better triage patient appointments can also use TELUS Health’s MyPet virtual care service as part of their regular practice. By routing non-emergency cases to the virtual veterinary care team, it helps alleviate some of the burden veterinarians face and allows them to focus more of their attention on effectively treating dogs and cats in need of hands-on care.

“The current reality in clinical veterinary practice is that we simply don’t have the time we once had to consult with our clients in depth, and with the general shortage of vets across the country, physical clinics are under continued pressure. to provide services,” said Ko Arman, Chief Veterinarian, TELUS Health MyPet. “By providing non-emergency cases with the care they need through a virtual platform, we can reduce some of the stress on clinics and help to provide much-needed flexibility and time management support, which will ultimately provide veterinarians with a better balance between work and family life.”
The TELUS Health MyPet app is free to download for iOS and Android smartphones, and consultations with Ontario-based veterinarians are billed by the session. The platform saw an incredible response from pet owners and veterinarians following the inaugural launch in Western Canada; plans to expand into other provinces throughout the year are underway. In Ontario, all veterinarians who work through TELUS Health MyPet are affiliated with Pet Telemedicine Veterinary Care of Toronto.
