It looks like a unlocking processalthough still quite limited, has finally been discovered for the PlayStation 5. The solution will allow users to access features or install programs that were initially unavailable or unofficial for the console.
The reveal was made by Lance McDonald, a famous user in the mod scene who recently rose to prominence for releasing an unofficial update to run Bloodborne at 60fps.
On his Twitter, he showed the console working with the jailbreak, which was implemented by user SpecterDev, showing the functions of a debug menu, in addition to installing a PlayStation 4 PKG file — the PT demo, which has been removed from the official store – as proof of what the unlock allows. Check it out below:

Limited unlock on PS5
For now, unlocking is still limited and can only be done on consoles with firmware version 4.03, released in October 2021. Even so, according to the creator, the to exploitwhich uses a system vulnerability to make the change, only works about 30% of the time, requiring multiple attempts.
Moreover, even if the process is completed successfully, its functions are still quite limited. For example, even though McDonald’s installed PT, the jailbreak still does not grant access to run the program and run the title.
Either way, the launch of this process is certainly a big step in that direction and a new concern for Sony, which launched its new loyalty program, PlayStation Stars, in Asia this week.
