Woman’s fridge explodes less than a year after she bought it [Boss Insurance]

Woman's fridge explodes less than a year after she bought it

It’s a major inconvenience when your fridge stops working and all your food goes bad, but those are small potatoes next to what happened to a woman whose fridge blew up. “I was on the computer, I thought it was an earthquake, it was so strong and I walked in and the doors were on the floor,” fridge owner Lenore Satterthwaite said. The video above shows the destruction throughout his home. You can see the appliance’s outer shell still in place, with everything inside strewn all over its kitchen. The force was so great that it damaged her stove, walls and furniture. Satterthwaite immediately called 911 and firefighters responded. The Person County Fire Marshal told WTVD there was no evidence of an electrical fire or anything else in the home that caused the event, saying that everything that had happened originated from the refrigerator, but the exact cause could not be determined. Satterthwaite said she had just purchased the Frigidaire. refrigerator last fall. Just days before it exploded, she said Frigidaire sent a technician to her home after requesting a warranty repair because the fridge was making a loud noise. “He said it was your problem, he had the freezer part apart. He said the fan wasn’t working properly to keep the temperature regulated so he had to order a fan,” Satterthwaite said. But a few days later, before repairs could arrive, her refrigerator exploded. Satterthwaite’s home insurance covered the cost of the damage. When WTVD contacted Frigidaire, a representative said in part, “Consumer safety is our top priority. We have reached out to Ms. Satterthwaite to learn more. We are actively reviewing her product and service information records.” Satterthwaite said she was grateful we were in the kitchen when it happened. She said: “I hate someone going through what I’m going through, I could have been badly hurt.”
